Creative Arts Group - Day of the Dead at Colors4U

In this workshop we learned about Mexico by painting and decorating sugar skulls!Sugar skulls represented a departed soul, had the name written on the forehead and were placed on the home ofrenda or gravestone to honor the return of a particular spirit. Sugar skull art reflects the folk art style with big happy smiles, colorful icing and sparkly tin and glittery adornments.

Creative Arts Group - Weaving Workshop

IWC members were invited to join a weaving workshop featuring Marija Paunović Čontoš, Serbian designer, weaver, knitter and owner of Razbojnik. On May 27th we were invited to our member Leyla Khasiyeva’s house to learn from her how to make a bracelet with pearl charms. Leyla patiently instructed everybody on how to make their preferred combination and treated the group to tea and snacks while they worked on their project.

Knitting Workshop with David van de Kamp

On Wednesday 6th of April, IWC members were invited to join a knitting workshop featuring David Van De Kamp, thanks to our member Valerie Lane as our host for this workshop. Creative Arts Group - Cupcake Workshop

On Monday December 13 th , a group of IWC ladies were treated to a workshop for decorating cupcakes. Since it’s the holiday season, our cupcakes had a Christmas theme - wreaths, poinsettia flowers, and Santa Claus faces. IWC member Sendy Kristiani was our teacher, assisted by Sonia Shehryar, who is also a master baker. Creative Arts Group - Christmas Ornaments Workshop

The Christmas ornaments making workshop took place in Hotel Indigo on December 8th. The set up of the restaurant Duke is perfect to kick start the Christmasy feeling. The hotel sponsored our beverages, so kind of them. The workshop was intensive, beginning at 11am and ending at nearly 15h. We were all so proud of our bling bling handmade ornaments.

Ceramics Painting

On November 24th, the Creative Arts Group met at Colors4U art studio for a fun and relaxing few hours of ceramics painting. One in the group painted a mandala on a plate, two of us painted pumpkin scenes on plates in watercolors, and another one of us painted a reindeer tree ornament. Owner and IWC member Libertad Heredia was a gracious host. We won’t see the final finished product of our work until the pieces get “cooked” in the kiln and we can’t wait! ...

Art & Painting Group - Summer Motifs for Cupcakes

On Wednesday, June 23, members of the Art & Painting Group painted summer motifs, but this time on a sweet fondant for Cupcakes. We used a combination technique, painting and decorating. We each got to decorate three toppers and took home three cupcakes to our families. A big thank you goes to our guest teacher Nadia Patricia Martijena Mendoza from Peru, who kindly showed us the beautiful decoration techniques.

On Wednesday June 9, the Art & Painting group went to the newly opened art center in Senjak for the first time. We had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful view from the balcony. Painting Group - Jewelry Workshop

On Monday, April 26, the painting group met again at a jewelry workshop. We had the opportunity to create personalized jewelry with new wire and bead techniques. A big thanks goes to Yolo, our teacher, and to Colors4You for hosting our group at their lovely studio.
