Supporting children and youth wellbeing and child rights education - 498.400 rsd
The Child Rights Centre (Centre) is an association of citizens established in 1997 with an aim ofimplementing the rights of the child in Serbia in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC). The main course of our action is aimed at creating a favourable institutional, legislative, and strategic framework for the full achievement of the rights of the child in Serbia through activities focused on the introduction and implementation of laws, policies and practices that enable the child well-being and protection, as well as the child participation in society.
The project which is supported by IWC Belgrade is targeting children from the educational institute in Belgrade. According to resent research, these children from the educational institute face a lack of psychological support. But it is a fact that children in institutes for children and youth education are amongst the most vulnerable people in society. They often come from marginalised and vulnerable segments of the population and are exposed to a range of deprivations such as risk of abuse and neglect, extreme poverty, mental health issues etc. As a result, it is even more important that those children can talk about the problems they face daily and with which they arrived at the Institute.
So the specific goal of the project is to improve mental health of children in the Educational institute in Belgrade, improve child participation, build knowledge and capacities of children to learn about their rights and to raise awareness among general public. In 8 workshops 15 children are attending workshops partially supported peer to peer by children from the DX Club. In this light, peer-to-peer support is a powerful tool to prevent mental health issues and empower children from educational institute in their challenges.
