IWC MAIN EVENTS

September Coffee Morning

13.09.2022 at 10:00 to 12:30 | Residence of the ambassador of Finland | Šekspirova 9

IWC members and potential members are graciously hosted on September 13th at 10:00 for the first coffee morning event of the year 2022/23 by the Finnish embassy. Our generous hostess Mrs. Pia Kaikonen has offered to open her home to our members and to provide a glimpse into the culture of her home country.

IMPORTANT: 

• Please note that this event is RSVP only, for both you and your guest. If either of your names are not on the guest list, you will not be permitted to enter the residence.

• Please provide the full name and nationality of your guest on the RSVP form. 

• Members who wish to renew their membership for the year 2022/23 in cash, can pay the 7000 RSD yearly fee on this occasion to the club treasurer, Verena. 

• As you may know, our Charity Bazaar is coming up in October. As a sign of support for the club and for the charities we provide funding for, we ask that each of you make a personal commitment by purchasing four raffle tickets (each 250 RSD) and five bazaar entrance tickets (each 300 RSD). The total for your contribution will be 2500 RSD. Please bring this amount in cash to the Coffee Morning as well. Thank you in advance for your kind generosity.

IWC Charity Bazaar

The IWC is holding its annual Charity Bazaar this year on Sunday, October 16th at Hotel Hyatt Regency. Visitors shall have the opportunity to purchase items unique to the countries of the 27 embassies that are participating and enjoy a variety of performances - dance, music and choir - offered by embassy sponsored performers, educational institutions and interest groups. The popular charity raffle will also take place, with a lot of exciting and luxurious prizes. 

The entrance tickets (300 RSD) and raffle tickets (250 RSD) are ready for purchase and we ask our dear members to keep it in mind and help us in promoting the Bazaar and selling the tickets. All the proceeds from the sale of both entrance tickets and raffle tickets shall go to the IWC charity account and donated to vulnerable populations in Serbia, still suffering from the adverse effects of the pandemic. 

You can help make a difference in a lot of lives by purchasing tickets for you, your family and friends as well as promoting the Bazaar among your social circles.

Holistic Approach: Qigong Class in Hyde Park

IWC Cultural Clothing Day

The Cultural Fashion Season in Belgrade has begun since 22nd of June and will continue until 22nd of September. On 16th September at 10:00, the IWC and Etnology Fest Belgrade are inviting you to #givebackcredit and celebrate the cultural heritage in fashion. Showcase your heritage by wearing your traditional dress, display your creativity and wear your own craft work, invite your friends to wear something of theirs too and let’s all learn and enjoy getting to know more about each other’s history and skills.

Are you willing to walk the catwalk with your traditional dress or artisanal outfit for everybody to admire? Then contact Zalina at: stauchzalina@gmail.com to volunteer for the fashion show catwalk. The top three outfits will win a prize!

A professional photographer will be there to take your picture in your glamorous finery and you can purchase your picture with the proceeds going to IWC charity account.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Charity Work: Breastfeeding Week

One of the beneficiaries of the previous year’s charity donations was the organization “Parents Association” whom the IWC supported with a donation of 820€ to cover the costs of the printing materials needed for their event “Breastfeeding Week: Da Mama Bude Dobro” (Eng: so that Mom will be alright). The event was held on July 31st 2022 at Dorćol Platz and some of our members as well as our hard working members of the charity committee were present at the well attended and meaningful event. Pilates Group: Let's get moving!

The IWC Pilates Group will begin training again from next Tuesday, at LikePilates Studio in Dedinje. Please contact Zalina at stauchzalina@gmail.com if you'd like to join in.

PAST EVENTS

Book Club: Meet the author - Dejan-Tiago Stanković 

On July 19, 2022 the IWC Book Club had the honor to attend a ‘Meet the Author’ session with Mr. Dejan-Tiago Stanković, writer of "Estoril''. Living between Portugal and Serbia, the author presented a war novel that includes great personalities of the era of World War II. Antoine de Saint-Exupèry, Ian Fleming and his possible model for James Bond (Duško Popov), as well as European royalty and politicians (running away from the war), cross paths in this magnificent place Estoril (Portugal).

The novel is available in Delphi-Laguna in Serbian, Spanish and English and during this summer was in the Top 5 book list in Serbia.

We had an interesting experience that included hearing the perspective of the writer, the participation of each of the book club members as well as our great host Mrs. Eun Hai Kim.
