BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Countless shades of pink with one goal: to raise awareness about breast cancer.
To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month October, we hosted our second consecutive Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the White Palace. All our guests wore pink to honour survivors of the disease, remember those who have died from breast cancer and support the progress we are making together in the fight against breast cancer.
After welcoming speeches by HRH Crown Prince Alexander and HRH Crown Princess Katherine, IWC President Barbora Kuchtová and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr Ferenc Vicko, the doctors from Acibadem | Bel Medic gave us a detailed insight into the various aspects of breast cancer. In the subsequent panel discussion, moderated by Dr Katarina Bajec (CEO Acibadem | Bel Medic), Dr Lana Ilić-Todorić and Dr Zoran Tomašević as well as Prof Cihan Uras and Dr Erdem Güven from Acibadem Istanbul answered the numerous questions of the audience.
As a women's association, it is our great concern to contribute to the fight against breast cancer and, above all, to raise awareness with this event. We want to show our support for those affected and encourage women to make use of regular preventive examinations.
A big thank you to our supporters and partners, without whom this event would not have been possible. In collaboration with Acibadem | Bel Medic and with the great support of TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine as well as the Ministry of Health, L'Oréal and Maison française, we were once again able to wear the colour pink together with the whole world. Many thanks for that!
IWC MAIN EVENTS
The deadline for paying membership fees for this coming year has now passed and sadly we still have 54 member's fees outstanding. Out of 161 current members this represents a third of our club which is no small number. Not only does this create a backlog in accepting new members, it also prevents us from focussing on more important club tasks.
Whilst we have taken the decision to expand the fee deadline till October 14th, guest list priority will now be given to members who are up-to-date with their fees.

On Saturday October 7th, IWC Members are invited to the grand opening of the 7th edition of the Etnology Fest. followed by an exclusive fashion show by students of Costume Design from the Faculty of Contemporary Arts, titled "Threads of Tradition".
On Sunday October 8th, IWC Members are invited to an exclusive fashion show by the renowned Egyptian designer Madame Reem Maguid Amin, who will present a unique collection titled "The Silver Path to Egypt".
Both events are organised under the auspices of the Spouse of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Mrs Tamara Vučić.

After we started the Breast Cancer Awareness Month with our Breast Cancer Awareness Day a few days ago, we are also organising a Health Talk on the topic of breast cancer together with our partner Acibadem - Bel Medic at the end of October.
At the event, Prim. dr sci.med. Magdalena Radović will give us information on breast cancer screening and answer all the participants' questions about breast cancer in a personal setting.
Let us once again wear the colour pink together and thus draw attention to this important topic. Together for our health.

The Social Work Action Group invite you to join the action at our upcoming Coffee Morning and donate, according to your capabilities - hygienic supplies, diapers, cloth diapers and baby food.
International Children's Week this year will be held from October 2nd to 8th. This is the week when we talk about children's rights and our help will be visible in cooperation with BeoBalet. For the last five years BeoBalet has been collecting funds for the "Center for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth Zvecanska". This is the center that takes care of a large number of children so hygienic supplies are always needed.
IWC Merchandise Now Available!
IWC are committed to tackling wider environmental issues such as plastic pollution and waste so let's make 2023/24 a year of change in Belgrade. Products now available for purchase with all proceeds going towards the IWC Charity fund. IWC hope to reduce the amount of waste produced by our events and encourage women in their lives outside of our club.
All available merchandise, as well as the IWC Book - "Belgrade Through the Eyes of Foreigners", will be available to purchase by cash and advanced online payment for distribution at the next Coffee Morning.
