Glass Exhibition at the Museum of Applied Arts

December 1st 2022 – IWC Newsletter

15.12.2022 at 13:00 to 14:30 | Museum of Applied Arts | Vuk Karadžić 18

The Glass Exhibition, with a complex and infinitely interesting story about glass, which in the past was so expensive that only rulers and wealthy members of the financial elite could afford it, draws us to take a peek at the exhibition "On the Glass Road: The Art of Glass and Representation in Serbia (1850-1950)" at the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade.

The exhibition is based on the idea of glass as "means" of promotion of rulers and statesmen, as well as representatives of other elites in Serbia/Yugoslavia in a period marked by dynastic and social changes, shaping the tastes of modern civilization, pioneering ideas in marketing and branding and a host of other interesting content.

It is mainly devoted to the tableware glasses and cups used to decorate festive dinners and occasions during the time of kings as well as Tito.
