April could be derived from Aphrilis, named for Aphrodite, the Greek version of the goddess the Romans called Venus.

April could be derived from the same root that gives us ‘après’: because April is the month that follows March.
The first two suggestions could be connected: the female is often symbolised as being ‘open’; think of Venus, or Aphrodite, rising from the sea, in an opening shell, as flowers open in springtime."

Manual Co Trip to Novi Sad

IWC have been invited on an exclusive tour of the Manual Co Factory in Novi Sad on Friday April 5th. After getting the 09:00 train from Belgrade to Novi Sad, members will be given a tour of the factory and then get the opportunity to purchsae goods with a 40% discount before enjoying lunch together in the sunshine. Lunch will consist of a choice of either fish or meat with lots of salads, drinks and coffee. Memebrs will then return to Belgrade of their own accord.
This is an opportunity not to be missed!

Cocktail Evening

Spring is a time for change and instead of a coffee morning this month we are inviting you to a unique opportunity to visit the Italian Embassy and have a cocktail party! Guests will be presented with a small presentation of the Residence building which celebrates 100 years this year and in celebration of this fact, two artists - Tamara Stefanović (piano) and Ana Gvozdenović (soprano) - will perform a few arias of Giacomo Puccini, of which is also the 100 year anniversary of his death.

Palace Tour
23.04.24 at 11:00 | Royal and White Palaces Tour | Bulevar kneza Aleksandra Karađorđevića 96
IWC members are invited on a private tour of both the Beli Dvor and the Royal Palace on Tuesday April 23rd at 11:00, both of which are located within the Royal Compound in Dedinje.
The White Palace is the official residence of the Yugoslav former royal family and home to an extensive art collection. It was designed by architect Aleksandar Đorđević in a neo-Palladian style, inspired by 18th century English country houses such as Ditchley Park. Its interior was decorated with English Georgian and 19th century Russian antiques by the French design firm Maison Jansen, which later decorated the White House during the administration of John F. Kennedy.
The Royal Palace was designed by architects Zivojin Nikolic and Nikolay Krassnoff and built in the Serbian-Byzantine style. It's rooms are decorated in the Baroque and Renaissance styles with impressive wood carved ceilings and chandeliers and boasts paintings of old masters from Royal collections. The Royal Palace is surrounded with pergolas, park terraces, swimming pools, pavilions and platforms with magnificent views of the surrounding area.
The tour will take approximately 1.5 hours.
To coincide with the traditional Easter Receptions that HRH Crown Princess Katherine hosts each year, IWC members are encouraged to bring presents to gift to teenage girls such as art supplies or such like. These receptions are held for orphans, children with special needs, Roma children and socially vulnerable children from all over Serbia. Cross-stitch Workshop

IWC members are invited to a cross-stitch workshop with Serbian designer, Marija Paunović Čontoš, owner of the textile company Razbojnik. Her award-winning designs can be seen in museums, gift shops and high-end clothing stores throughout Serbia. At this workshop, suitable for beginners, Marija will show participants how to create a beautiful cross-stitch piece. All materials will be provided.
